- 1989 - Red Schoendienst and Al Barlick are elected to the Hall of Fame.
- 1991 - In the first salary arbitration case in Nippon Pro Baseball history, the Chunichi Dragons face off against Hiromitsu Ochiai.
- 1999 - Ken Robinson (pictured) dies in a car crash; teammate John Rosengren, who was driving the vehicle, is charged with second-degree murder.
- 2022 - The European Baseball Federation bans all Russian and Belarussian teams from its competitions, as punishment for the two countries' invasion of Ukraine.
