- 1917 - The cash-hungry Philadelphia Phillies deal superstar Grover Cleveland Alexander and Bill Killefer to the Chicago Cubs for Mike Prendergast, Pickles Dillhoefer and $55,000.
- 1936 - The Tokyo Giants top the Osaka Tigers, 4-2, to capture the Japanese Professional Baseball League title in a best-of-three series that goes the distance.
- 1941 - The St. Louis Cardinals send slugger Johnny Mize (pictured), a future Hall of Famer, to the New York Giants for Ken O'Dea, Bill Lohrman, Johnny McCarthy and $50,000.
- 1941 - Cocaina García throws the first no-hitter ever at La Tropical Stadium, blanking Marianao. In the losing effort, Marianao turns the first triple play in Cuban Winter League history.
- 1959 - The New York Yankees snag Roger Maris from the Kansas City A's in a deal for Hank Bauer, Don Larsen, Norm Siebern and Marv Throneberry.
- 1975 - The New York Yankees acquire Willie Randolph, Dock Ellis and Ken Brett from the Pittsburgh Pirates for Doc Medich.
