Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Tateki Abe pitched in the Nippon Professional Baseball for 3 years.

Abe played for NTT West in the industrial leagues. The Yokohama BayStars took him in the fifth round of the 2012 NPB draft. In 2013, he got into one game in NPB (he was 2-0 with a save and a 3.76 ERA in ni-gun), relieving Shoichi Ino with a 8-0 deficit in the 7th against the Yakult Swallows. He allowed a double to Hector Luna, retired Kazuhiro Wada, walked Ryosuke Hirata and Motonobu Tanishige and gave up a sacrifice fly to Naomichi Donoue before getting Daisuke Yamai on a fly. Futoshi Kobayashi relieved him. He was with Yokohama in 2014 and posted a 5.79 ERA (4 2/3 IP, 5 H, 4 BB, 6 K). He was 2-1 with a save and a 3.97 ERA in 23 minor league games. He also spent time with the BayStars in 2015, having a 2.89 ERA in 5 games. Abe underwent the Tommy John surgery and missed the entire 2016 season, and the BayStars released him.

Overall, Abe was 0-1 with a 4.20 ERA, struck out 12 in 15 innings in 3 seasons in NPB.

His repertoire includes a fastball (peak 92 mph), slider and forkball.
