Biographical Information[edit]

Ryosuke Hirata played in the Nippon Pro Baseball.

Hirata hit 70 home runs in high school. He was a first-round pick of the Chunichi Dragons in 2005 NPB draft , when he was only 17. He was 0 for 2 for the Dragons in 2006, then was 4 for 12 with a run and a time hit by pitch in 2007. With Kosuke Fukudome out with injury, Hirata shared center field duties with Atsushi Fujii in the 2007 Japan Series, going 1 for 7 with a walk and five strikeouts. Chunichi won its first Japan Series in over 50 years.

In 2008, Hirata played 59 games and hit .268/.311/.330 at age 20. His first homer came on September 7, a walk-off home run.
