Ray Chapman[edit]

I became very interested in Ray Chapman as far back as I could remember. Knowing to this date of the thousands of ballplayers that as played over 100 years of baseball only one misfortunate thing happen...A ballplayer was killed. A pitch,in what Carl Mays said got away, hit him in the head(Ray Chapman). If baseball-reference does not mind...there was a book written in 1989 that is riviting and down to what happend from the start of the season to the incident. As espn magazine put it "The best baseball book no one has read" The book is called, The Pitch That Killed, written by Mike Sowell. If all is possible get it and read it....personally it was hard to put down its roughley 328 pages and a very good read!!!!

Should we have a list or category for people who died on the field or due to injuries on the field? We've got Chapman, Jiro Kuji, Pete Mann, Mike Coolbaugh, Robert Osgood, Mac Smith, Dick Conway (minors), Andy Strong, Alfredo Edmead and Ronaldo Romero so far. - --Mischa (talk) 09:27, 27 January 2014 (EST)
