Talk:Kid Bevis
What League were the Wichita Eagles in? Jeff (talk) 01:59, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
According to BR they were in the western league before 1898 but when Bevis took over that year they were playing in the Kansas State League. The Goth Kids (talk) 02:03, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Neither the Kansas State League, nor the Wichita, KS page has that information. Auditing the League pages and City pages and reconciling them with BR might be more helpful than creating pages for managers who we have no information for. Jeff (talk) 02:11, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Here's the paper that said it happened. BR lists Bevis as having batting stats for the team that year. The Goth Kids (talk) 02:17, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Goth, when you create a player page like you just did, check if he is on the main B-Ref site, then use the standard format for a player page by transcribing all the known information from that page. We did have a Wichita team listed on the Kansas State League page as the "Wichita Blues", but it was a red link. I've changed it to Eagles on all relevant pages. Valerius also has a page on B-Ref, but it's even sparser than Bevis's. Since there is a cemetery listed for Bevis, you could try searching for more complete info by using that. Minor league teams changed their names a lot in rhat era and still do today. Are you sure they weren't called the Blues at one point and changed their name to the Eagles at some point? The Goth Kids (talk) 14:41, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
