Biographical Information[edit]
Kid Bevis was a minor league pitcher who became manager of the Wichita Eagles of the Kansas State League in June of 1898, following their manager, known simply by the last name Valerius, backing down from the position.
Before that, he played for the Kansas City Blues of the Western League in 1897, and the Burlington Hawkeyes of the Western Association prior to joining Wichita in 1898. He was also with Fort Scott Giants of the Missouri Valley League in 1903, but like most minor league players of that time, his statistical record is patchy.
