Talk:Cecil Downs

From BR Bullpen

Does anyone know any other information on this guy? It seems quite sparse. Alex 01:05, 26 January 2011 (EST)

He was also president of some sort of "Baseball College" in West Palm Beach in 1940 [1]. --Jeff (talk) 04:36, 3 November 2015 (EST)

Further research on Downs indicates that he left West Palm Beach to live in California. Which leads me to believe this is the same Cecil Downs. Further research also indicates he went to Gonzaga and joined the Seattle Indians one year after his tenure at the college. Alexsautographs (talk) 23:05, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

There's this: "Cecil Downs, the right-handed pitcher who reported to Manager Gleason of the Chicago White Sox a week ago from the Gonzaga university of Spokane, Wash., today was released to the Kalamazoo, Mich., club of the Central league. He will report at once." - Morning Oregonian, June 23, 1922. Randy (talk) 23:27, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
