Biographical Information[edit]

Takero Okajima has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Okajima was a 4th-round pick of the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 2011 NPB draft. He got his first NPB in plate appearance in 2012 against Shigeki Ushida, his first hit off Masaru Takeda and his first homer July 4 off Yoshihisa Naruse (a solo shot). He hit .258/.288/.333 in 43 games that year, fielding .995 as the backup to Motohiro Shima at catcher. He battled right elbow and right shoulder injuries in 2013 while moving to right field; he hit .323/.405/.385 in 79 games. Had he qualified, he would have been third in the Pacific League in average (behind Yuya Hasegawa and Toshiaki Imae) and second in OBP (behind Esteban German). He scored the first run in Rakuten Japan Series history. In game 2 of the 2013 Japan Series, he singled off Tomoyuki Sugano in the bottom of the 6th. Kazuya Fujita bunted him over and Ginji Akaminai singled him in.
