Biographical Information[edit]

Tai-Chun Yang debuted for the Taiwanese national team in 2015, the same year his brother Cheng-Chun Yang debuted in the CPBL. He is also the brother of Chiang-Sen Yang and cousin of Chen-Yu Yang and Sheng-En Lin.

Yang starred in the 2010 World Junior Championship, which Taiwan won; he hit .346/.419/.615 with two homers in 7 games, including a grand slam against Venezuela and a homer off Australia's Travis McDonald in the Gold Medal Game. He led the event in RBI (12, one over teammate Tzu-Wei Lin), tied for second in homers (one behind Ryan Battaglia) and was named the All-Star second baseman. He then hit .611 and slugged .889 in the 2011 Asian Junior Championship, leading all players in average and again winning All-Star honors at 2B. He played for Taiwan in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup.

In the 2015 Universiade, he hit .357/.526/.572 with 5 runs and 6 RBI in four games. He was second in RBI (one behind Soo-haeng Jo) and tied for second in runs (two behind Jo). He batted .263/.364/.263 in the 2015 World Port Tournament. In the 2015 Asian Championship, he was 3 for 16 with 3 walks, 2 hit-by-pitch, four runs and four RBI as the main DH for the Silver Medalists (he also backed up Han Lin at 1B). The Lamigo Monkeys selected Yang in the second round of the 2016 CPBL Draft. However, Yang never had a whole season in the CPBL. He hit .257/.278/.314 in 2016, and he improved to .354/.413/.415 2017. Yang was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018, and his professional career ended.

Overall, Yang hit .314/.368/.372 with 38 hits in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
