Biographical Information

Stan Pawloski was signed as an amateur free agent by the Cleveland Indians, fresh out of high school from the coal mining region of western Pennsylvania, early in the 1949 season. Stan made his best season, his first, hitting at a .329 average in 87 games with the Stroudsburg Poconos of the North Atlantic League. He spent the next three seasons (1950-1952) working his way up in the Cleveland organization. He hit at a .271 clip for the Reading Indians of the Eastern League in 134 games in the 1952 season before being inducted into the United States Military during the Korean War.

Back from the service in mid-1954 he appeared in 55 games with the Indianapolis Indians hitting .280 and helping his team to the American Association pennant. Stan had a good season in 1955, again with the Indianapolis club, hitting .267 with 14 home runs and got his first and only chance in the major leagues when the Cleveland team called for him on September 24th. The 23-year-old infielder got into two games at second base and had one base-hit in eight at-bats. This would be his sum-total in the majors.

Stan was back at Indianapolis in 1956 where he hit .242 with 10 homers in 124 games and spent 1957 with two clubs, the Mobile Bears of the Southern Association and the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League, hitting a combined .256 in 117 games. Pawloski spent his ninth and last season in pro baseball in 1958 with the Mobile Bears club again, hitting .238 in 143 games. This wound up his baseball career with a .267 minor league average with 61 home runs in 1,043 games.

Pawloski left the game at this point and was employed for 40 years with Penn Ventilator in Philadelphia, PA. As of last notice Stan was still living in that area.
