Southern Tier League

The Southern Tier League was an independent minor league that played in 1904 and 1905. It was based in and around New York's Southern Tier.

The 1904 teams were: Addison White Sox, Corning White Ponies, Coudersport, Elmira, Hornellsville Maple Cities, Penn Yan Grape Pickers and Wellsville Oil Drillers.

In 1905, the league fell to four teams: Addison-Wellsville Tobacco Strippers, Corning Glassblowers, Elmira and Hornellsville Bluebirds.

Major leaguers who played in the league include: Lee DeMontreville, Lew Groh and Red Murray (Addison, 1904); DeMontreville, Jack McAleese, Joe McCarthy and John Roach (Corning, 1904); Herbie Moran (Coudersport, 1904); Joe Birmingham, Harry Curtis and Bill Mack (Elmira, 1904); Joe Berry (Hornellsville, 1904); Murray (Wellsville, 1904); Bob Dresser, Gene Good, Leo Hafford and Mack (Addison-Wellsville, 1905); Abbie Johnson, Dresser, Jim McCormick, Roach and Huyler Westervelt (Corning, 1905); Birmingham, Curtis, Ben Ellis and Good (Elmira, 1905) and Groh and Biff Schlitzer (Hornellsville, 1905).
