Biographical Information[edit]

Shu-Mu Chueh played and won a Gold Glove in the CPBL.

Chueh was signed by the Chinatrust Whales when they were founded in the 1997. Although he only batted .189/.241/.260, he was still selected into the All-Star Game by the fans. Chueh hit .258/.308/.339 and .243/.287/.312 respectively in the next two seasons, and the Whales released him due to their full roster. The Sinon Bulls picked him up in 2000, but Chueh batted a career-worst .177/.228/.254. He was turned into a first baseman after this season, but this change didn't improve his batting as his recorded a .207/.251/.252 batting line in 2001.

Chueh broke out in 2002, hitting .281/.345/.342 and he won the CPBL Gold Glove as a first baseman. He was the only available candidate for the Best Ten award, but the league decided to let it go without a winner. The Taipei native hit .259/.320/.315 in the next year, but declined to .178/.237/.250 in 2004. Chueh announced his retirement on April 21 2005, and became the defense coach for the Bulls in 2005.

Overall, Chueh had hit .231/.285/.296 in nine seasons in the CPBL.
