Biographical Information[edit]

Shih-Hao Liu has caught in the CPBL and for the Chinese Taipei national baseball team.

Liu represented Taiwan in the 2013 World Port Tournament and the 2013 East Asian Games. He was 2 for 6 in the World Port Tournament. The Lamigo Monkeys drafted Liu in the third round of the 2014 CPBL Draft. Liu hit .270/.333/.330 in his rookie year. He collected his first hit, a walk-off single off Jung-Hao Hsieh on April 9, and became the first CPBL player whose first hit in career was a walk-off hit. Liu recorded a .237/.318/.331 and was selected into the All-Star Game in 2015. In the 2015 Taiwan Series, Liu batted .200/.250/.267, started Game 5 to Game 7 and won his first Taiwan Series Title with the Monkeys.

The Miaoli native batted .234/.310/.270 and participated in the All-Star Game again in the 2016. He struggled in 2017, only hit .179/.234/.248 and the starting catcher spot was taken by Hao-Jan Huang. Liu came back soon, as he played a career-high 90 games with a .267/.350/.315 in 2018. Liu shined in the 2018 Taiwan Series, when he hit .375/.545/.750 and blasted a grand slam off Ryan Verdugo. The Monkeys beat the Lions 4-2, and Liu got his third Taiwan Series Title this year. With the 2017 first round pick Chien-Fu Liao joining the major team, Liu mainly played backup catcher role in 2019. He only batted .143/.250/.238 in the regular season, but recorded a 4-for-9 in the 2019 Taiwan Series. He hit a grand slam again, off Elih Villanueva, and won his fourth Taiwan Series Title.

Liu only played 24 games in 2020, and the Wei Chuan Dragons picked him in the expansion draft after the season. The veteran only batted .164/.262/.218 in the first year with the Dragons, but improved to .273/.365/.273 in the 2022 season. He had a .311/.400/.328 batting line in 40 games in 2023 as the backup of Shao-Hung Chiang. He was 0-for-2 in the 2023 Taiwan Series and he won the title as the Dragons beat the Monkeys in 7 games. Liu then announced that he would become a free agent after this season, and he singed a 2-year contract with the Dragons.
