Biographical Information[edit]

Shao-Hung Chiang has caught in the CPBL. His father is CPBL catcher Kun-Sheng Chiang.

Chiang represented Taiwan in the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup, hitting .438/.526/.563. The Wei-Chuan Dragons drafted him in the seventh round of the 2020 CPBL Draft, but he spent his entire rookie season in the minor league. Chiang became the starting catcher of the young Dragons in 2021, and he hit .244/.304/.323 with one homer. He was selected into the 2022 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was struck out by Bradin Hagens in Game 1. Chiang started in Game 2, and he went 1-for-3, with a single against Hao-Chun Chiu. However, he struggled after the All-Star break, and ended up hitting .197/.271/.247 in 66 games. In the 2022 CPBL Playoff Series, Chiang was 0-for-2 and the Dragons lost to the CTBC Brothers in 3 games.

Since Kungkuan Giljegiljaw played at designated hitter more than catcher in 2023, Chiang had many chances and he won the competition with Chen-Hsun Lin for the starting catcher spot. He improved and hit .241/.317/.320 in this season.
