Biographical Information[edit]

Chen-Hsun Lin has been a catcher in the Chinese Professional Baseball League and for the Taiwanese national team.

Lin represented Taiwan in the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, hitting .190/.227/.286 and handling 49 chances error-free at catcher. [1] The Wei-Chuan Dragons drafted him in the third round of the 2020 CPBL Draft; he received a 4.7 million NT dollars signing bonus.[2] Lin spent his rookie year in the CPBL minor league, and hit .255/.335/.317 in 45 games there. He was the backup to Shao-Hung Chiang and Giljegiljaw Kungkuan in 2022, so he only played 23 games; he had a .156/.250/.156 batting line.

Since Kungkuan was mainly used as a designated hitter in 2023, Lin got more chances, but he still struggled as he hit .157/.228/.314 in 28 games. He was on Wei-Chuan's roster for the 2023 Taiwan Series, but he didn't appear in any games, and won the Taiwan Series title as the Dragons beat the Rakuten Monkeys in 7 games.[3]

The Kaohsiung native then made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2023 Asian Championship. He was the starting catcher against Palestine, and he went 1-for-5, with a single against Yunis Haleem and a RBI. Lin then went 0-for-2 against the Philippines. Taiwan was beaten by Japan and won Silver in the event. He was error-free in 14 chances as a catcher in 2 games, and caught Renato Samuel stealing second in the 3rd inning against the Philippines.
