Biographical Information[edit]

Shaun Garceau pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Garceau was rated the 68th-best high school prospect by Baseball America but a commitment to the University of Alabama persuaded many teams to bypass him. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 20th round of the 2005 Amateur Draft, and he went 2-7 with a 7.66 ERA for the Johnson City Cardinals in his first year, tying for the Appalachian League lead in losses. After missing the 2006 season due to a muscle tear and burst artery, Garceau went 8-11 with a 4.86 ERA for the Swing of the Quad Cities in 2007 (tying for the Midwest League lead in losses), and he recorded a 2.08 ERA in 7 appearances there in 2008. He also had 8-4 record with a 3.42 ERA for the Palm Beach Cardinals in the 2008 season. That offseason, he was given oxycodone by a friend and became addicted, losing 40 pounds and seeing his performance fall down from its promising 2008 level.

The West Palm Beach native stayed in Palm Beach in 2009, but he had a 6.23 ERA in 11 games. More importantly, he became sober. He struggled in 2010 as his ERA was 5.45 with a 0-6 record for the Springfield Cardinals, then he left the Cardinals system. Garceau was 4-5 with a 5.49 ERA for the York Revolution in 2011, then he pitched 3 games for them with a 7.71 ERA in 2012. Garceau went to the Kansas City T-Bones in the middle of the 2012 season, and he went 9-6 with a 3.56 ERA. He was 6-9 with a 4.31 ERA in Kansas City in 2013, and he also recorded a 1.17 ERA in 3 games for the Long Island Ducks. He was 1-2 with a 4.67 ERA for the Criollos de Caguas that winter.

Garceau went 13-4 with a 4.99 ERA for the Ducks in 2014 (one win behind Atlantic League leader Chris Schwinden), then he had a 4.07 ERA in 5 games for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in the winter, going 1-1. The CTBC Brothers then signed him, but Garceau allowed 12 runs in 12 2/3 innings in 2015. He was released in June, and he went 1-3 with a 9.40 ERA for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes. Garceau was 5-6 with a 4.72 ERA for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs after leaving Mexico, and he had a 5.19 ERA in 6 games in 2016. Garceau was 3-4 with a 4.92 ERA for the Somerset Patriots, then he announced his retirement.
