Biographical Information

Seok-hwan Yoon was a Rookie of the Year in the Korea Baseball Organization and later served as a long-time pitching coach.

Yoon debuted with the OB Bears in 1984, going 12-8 with 25 saves and a 2.84 ERA. He led the league in saves and games pitched (57) while finishing 8th in wins, 8th in ERA and 6th in strikeouts (111). He was named the Korea Baseball Organization Rookie of the Year. He was 5-1 with six saves and a 3.34 ERA in 1985, pitching the sixth-most games (41). Yoon had a 2-4, 3.13 record in 1986 and was 7-8 with two saves and a 3.94 ERA in 1987. In 1988, he had his best year at 13-3, 2.08 with 14 saves. He was second in saves (two behind Sang-kun Lee), led in save points, was 5th in wins and led in pitching appearances. For the '89 Bears, the lefty was 2-3 with a save and a 4.67 ERA. He was 1-0 with two saves and a 6.88 ERA in 1990. OB then dealt him to the Samsung Lions for Bum-hyun Cho. He was only 1-0 with a 6.52 ERA for the 1991 Lions to end his career.

Overall, the Seoul native was 43-27 with 50 saves and a 3.44 ERA in 235 KBO games.

After his playing career ended, Yoon was pitching coach for the Bears (1992-1998), the SK Wyverns (2001) and the Bears again (now the Doosan Bears) from 2004 to 2011. In 2012, he became a commentator for SBS ESPN.
