Biographical Information[edit]

Sarah Pengelly has been on the Canadian women's national team.

Pengelly was the only female player on the Coquitlam Reds in the BC Premier Baseball League. This wasn't some Kelsie Whitmore stunt of a female player riding the bench; Pengelly was the team's most-used starting pitcher as of late 2023 and was among their leaders in wins, strikeouts and saves. [1] The 17-year-old made Canada's team for the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup's 2023 phase; she got one start and was dominant, holding South Korea to one hit (by Soo-ji Ahn) and two walks in five shutout innings while striking out ten to beat Bo-mi Kim in a mercy rule win. Canada advanced to the 2024 phase. In Group A in 2023, Pengelly had been first in K (two ahead of Raine Padgham and Gen Beacom), tied Jillian Albayati and Rosa del Castillo for the shutout lead, trailed only Flor Valerio (also at 0.00, but in 1/3 more innings) in ERA, tied Albayati for the best RA and allowed the lowest average (.059, .032 ahead of Elise Berger).
