Biographical Information[edit]

Elise Berger has pitched for the USA women's national team.

She debuted in a 2022 friendly series against Canada. [1] In the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup, she started the US opener against Australia and former Australian Baseball League hurler Gen Beacom. She retired Ticara Geldenhuis and Abbey Kelly to kick things off; after Morgan Doty reached on an error, she cruised more, getting her first K against rival pitcher Beacom. Her first hit or walk didn't come till the 4th when Doty singled. After five shutout innings of one-hit ball, she hit Geldenhuis to open the 6th and allowed a two-out single to Abbey McLellan. Cody Eckert relieved with Berger up, 3-0, and allowed both runners to score, but Berger still got the win over Beacom. She also started against Mexico, allowing only one hit (to Rosa Del Castillo) in four shutout innings (2 BB, 3 K) before Eckert relieved; Berger got the win again, beating Adriana Palma. She tied Raine Padgham for the most wins in Group A, the US advancing to the 2024 final round. She also led in ERA (.11 ahead of Del Castillo) and IP (2/3 ahead of Del Castillo). [2]

Berger then got a scholarship to Bard College, a rarity for a female baseball player. [3]
