Salem Buccaneers

From BR Bullpen

The Salem Buccaneers were the Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate in the Carolina League from 1987 to 1994. The switch in affilliation from the Texas Rangers to the Pirates payed immediate dividends, as the Buccaneers won the league championship their first year. The last time Salem made the playoffs was 1974, when they were also a Pirates farm club. Some of their most notable alumni include Moises Alou and Tim Wakefield. Previously, the club was known as the Salem Redbirds, and the team is currently called the Salem Red Sox.
