Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Dettore was among the first former major league players to play in Italy's Serie A1 in the 1980s, alongside Lenny Randle. He was featured in a 60 Minutes documentary on baseball in Italy aired around 1984.
Dettore was a coach for the Princeton Pirates in 1989, Augusta Pirates in 1990, Salem Buccaneers in 1991, Carolina Mudcats in 1992, and Buffalo Bisons in 1993-1994. He was the Pittsburgh Pirates' minor league pitching coordinator from 1995 to 1998.
Dettore was the pitching coach for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx in 2009 and High Desert Mavericks in 2010-2012.
In addition, Dettore served as a pitching coach for the 1990/1991 Parramatta Patriots of the Australian Baseball League and was the pitching coach for the Sun Cities Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League in 1993.
