Biographical Information[edit]
Ryan Weiss pitched in the minor leagues, KBO and the CPBL.
Weiss was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 4th round of the 2018 Amateur Draft, and he was 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA for the Hillsboro Hops in 2018. He went 7-5 with a 3.44 ERA for the Kane County Cougars in 2019, but he slumped to 1-2 with a 5.97 ERA after advancing to the Visalia Rawhide. After the coronavirus shut down the minor leagues in 2020, Weiss went 2-2 with a 4.31 ERA for the Amarillo Sod Poodles in 2021. He reached AAA in the same season, but he went 4-1 with a 5.04 ERA for the Reno Aces.
The Diamondbacks added Weiss into their 40-man roster after the 2021 season, but he struggled in 2022. His ERA was 4.76 in 10 relief outings in Amarillo, and he recorded a 7.45 ERA in Reno. He was DFA'd on July 1, and the Kansas City Royals claimed him. Weiss was 2-2 with a 7.45 ERA in the rest of the season, and his ERA was 7.07 in 12 games in 2023. He was released in May, and he went to the High Point Rockers. Weiss went 5-3 with a 4.61 ERA there, then he went to Taiwan and had a 4-1 record with a 2.32 ERA for the Fubon Guardians. He was 3-4 with a 4.34 ERA for the Rockers in 2024, and the Hanwha Eagles signed him.
