Biographical Information[edit]
Ryan Mullins pitched in the Minnesota Twins system from 2005 to 2011. He spent one full season and two incomplete seasons at Triple-A, but never reached the major leagues. He was taken by the club in the 3rd round of the 2005 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Josh Lindblom and a couple ahead of outfielders Jordan Schafer and Brett Gardner. He was signed by scout Tim O'Neil.
He went 3-0 with a 10.1 K/9 IP ratio and a 2.18 ERA in 11 starts for the Elizabethton Twins his first year, then 5-8 with a 3.86 ERA in 27 games (26 starts) for the Beloit Snappers in 2006. In 2007, he reached Triple-A for the first time, splitting the season between three clubs. Overall, he went 7-9 with a 3.93 ERA in 28 games (27 starts), including a 0-3 record 10.57 ERA in 4 starts with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings. He pitched for the Phoenix Desert Dogs of the semi-exclusive Arizona Fall League that year, going 1-0, 2.84 in 6 games (5 starts). He was named an AFL Rising Star. He was 9-9, 4.31 in 30 games (24 starts) for the New Britain Rock Cats in 2008, and back with New Britain in 2009, he was 11-11, 4.03 in 28 games (27 starts). That winter, he played for the Indios de Mayaguez of the Puerto Rican Winter League, going 0-2, 8.22 line in 5 games (4 starts). He spent a full season with Rochester in 2010, going 4-7, 4.60 in 19 games (16 starts). Between three clubs, including Rochester, in 2011, he went 2-6, 8.12 in 12 games (8 starts) to wrap up his career.
Overall, Mullins went 41-50 with a 4.18 ERA in 155 games (139 starts) in the minor leagues. In 790 innings, he allowed 864 hits and 242 walks (1.400 WHIP), while striking out 655 batters. At Triple-A, he was 5-14, 6.20 in 30 games (26 starts); his WHIP was 1.644. At all levels, he was 42-52 with a 4.23 ERA in 166 games (148 starts). He was a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star in 2007 and an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star in 2008.
