Rusbel Fariñez played three seasons in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
Fariñez was signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Jose Fuentes in August 2009. He hit .286/.366/.364 for the VSL Reds the next year, fielding .951 at second base. In 2011, he hit .308/.408/.388 for the same club, with 45 runs, 15 doubles and 20 steals (in 30 tries) in 67 games while fielding .954 at second. He tied Kenny Hart and Jesús Ugueto for 10th in the Venezuelan Summer League in doubles, was 10th in OBP (between Dilson Herrera and Ramon Coronel), tied Douglas Duran and Miguel Mendez for second in runs, tied Coronel and Leopoldo Correa for 6th in hits and tied Edgar Muñoz for third in swipes. As a utility man for the 2012 DSL Reds, he produced at a .256/.342/.314 clip and scored 35 runs in 58 games to end his career in the minors.
He hit .353/.476/.412 for the Venezuelan national team in the 2017 Bolivarian Games, with 19 error-free chances in the field and only 1 steal in 4 tries. He was 1 for 2 with a run, RBI and steal as Venezuela's leadoff man in the Bronze Medal Game against El Salvador before being replaced by Edgar Bruzual.
