Biographical Information[edit]
Robert Mullen peaked at AA and has been on the Panamanian national team.
He was signed by Oakland Athletics scout Juan Mosquera in July 2012. [1] He hit .267/.340/.367 for the 2013 DSL Athletics and threw out 48% of those who tried to steal. Back with the same team in '14, he slipped to .230/.365/.296 and 35%. Coming stateside in 2015, he batted .231/.333/.321 for the AZL Athletics. In a return engagement in 2016, he was at .260/.363/.406.
Missing 2017 due to injury [2], he returned to action in 2018, hitting a combined .192/.284/.321 in 25 games between the Vermont Lake Monsters and Beloit Snappers. In 2019, he played for the Midland RockHounds (1 for 5, HR) and Stockton Ports (.280/.329/.460 in 70 G). He had hit .251/.338/.382 in 234 games in the minors, fielding .977 at catcher and throwing out 30% of baserunners attempting to steal against him.
During the 2024 Premier 12, he split DH with Rodrigo Orozco Jr. for Panama. He debuted against the Netherlands as Panama's starting DH in their first Premier 12 game. Batting 8th, he was retired by Shairon Martis twice and Kevin Kelly once before Orozco batting for him. His other game was versus Venezuela. He doubled off Jesús Vargas and came around to score then was 0-for-2 the rest of the day. [3]
