Reed Eastley was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 13th round of the 2005 amateur draft and played three seasons in their organization.

Eastley was named the Manitoba High School Athlete of the Year as a senior. He hit .232 as a college freshman and improved to .301/.418/.475 with 49 runs in 50 games as a sophomore. During his junior year, Reed batted .368/.432/.627 and hit 25 doubles, 8th-most in Metro Atlantic Conference history. He made second-team All-MAAC. In '05, the senior hit .272/.378/.421 while missing 14 games with a broken forearm.

After being drafted, Eastley hit .318/.434/.463 with 37 walks in 55 games for the '05 Everett AquaSox and was 8 for 12 with two walks, a double and a homer for the AZL Mariners. He was 5th in the Northwest League in average, second in OBP (behind Will Thompson) and tied for the lead in free passes.

In 2006, Reed hit .275/.367/.393 for the Inland Empire 66ers and was named Team MVP then was with Team Canada for the 2006 COPABE Olympic Qualifiers. Backing up Pete LaForest at first base, he homered in one at-bat (a 3-run shot) and struck out twice in limited action. He also hit .221 for the Waikiki Beach Boys of the Hawaiian Winter League.

The Manitoba native split 2007 between the High Desert Mavericks (.265/.340/.337 in 45 G) and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (.265/.380/.393 in 67 G).

Overall, Eastley produced at a .285/.384/.405 rate in the minors. He played mostly first base but saw action at all four infield positions as well as catcher.
