Biographical information[edit]

Rafael Pujols is a former minor league baseball catcher who played in the Oakland Athletics system from 1995 to 2001 and in independent baseball from 2002 to 2003 and in 2005.

He played in the Dominican Summer League from 1995 to 1997. He hit .250 with 19 RBI in '95, .256 with 4 HR and 30 RBI in '96 and .328 with 4 HR and 48 RBI in his third year.

In 1998 he played for the Southern Oregon Timberjacks, hitting .224/.302/.317 in 183 at-bats. He played for the Modesto A's in 1999, hitting .236/.308/.343 in 233 at-bats. With the Visalia Oaks in 2000, he improved and hit .322/.389/.434 with nine home runs and 74 RBI in 117 games. Primarily a DH, he finished 4th in the California League in batting average, behind Terrmel Sledge, Sean McGowan and Tony Torcato. He split the 2001 season between Modesto, the Sacramento River Cats and Midland RockHounds, hitting a combined .256 in 312 at-bats.

From 2002 to 2003, he played for the Quebec Les Capitales, hitting .317 or .319 (different sources have different numbers) in 2002 and .285 in 2003. He was a Northern League All-Star in 2002. He played for the Schaumburg Flyers in 2005, hitting .149 in 47 at-bats.
