Biographical Information

Přemek Chroust has played in the Czech Extraliga.

Chroust went 2 for 5 with a double, walk and error for the Czech Republic in the 2008 European Junior Championship. In the Extraliga that year, the 16-year-old was 8 for 24 (all singles) with 3 walks for Draci Brno. In 2009, he hit an impressive .412/.524/.500 while fielding only .821 as a backup infielder for Draci Brno. During 2010, the Tišnov native became a starter and produced at a .368/.476/.483 clip with 20 runs in 30 games, while fielding .929. He was tied for 6th in the league with 18 walks, was 9th in slugging, 10th in OBP and 10th in average. In the 2010 European Cup, he was 0 for 2 with two walks and two errors.

In 2011, Chroust hit .261/.404/.295 with 19 walks, 19 runs and 19 RBI in 31 contests. He did not make the top 10 in any department. He was 2 for 6 with a double in the 2011 European Cup. He played a big role in a 4-3 upset over DOOR Neptunus; down 3-2 in the 9th, he doubled off former Reds minor leaguer Arshwin Asjes and scored on a hit by Karel Hrušovský to tie the score. In the 2012 European Cup, he went 2 for 14 with two runs and two RBI. He hit .260/.391/.301 and fielded .959 in the 2012 Extraliga season.

Chroust moved to Hroši Brno for 2013 and hit .295/.428/.413 while fielding .292. In '14, he returned to Draci Brno and improved his batting line to .358/.487/.367 with 30 runs in 33 games, though he only fielded .871. He tied Daniel Mráz for 3rd in the league with 27 walks and was 4th in OBP (between Jakub Sládek and Jakub Voják). He was even better in the playoffs - .385/.556/.962 - which he led in homers (4), runs (10), total bases (25) and walks (9) as Draci Brno won another title. He hit only .188/.300/.250 in the 2014 European Cup though he handled 12 chances error-free.

He made his debut for the Czech national team in the 2014 European Championship, splitting third base with a few other players. He went 3 for 11 with two walks, two times hit-by-pitch, a double, three runs and a RBI with six chances afield with no errors. He hit .337/.514/.465 and fielded .932 for Draci Brno in 2015, with 27 runs and 35 walks in 30 games. He finished third in the Extraliga in OBP, behind only Matěj Hejma and Petr Síla) and led in walks (7 more than #2 Jakub Ondráček). He was again a playoff superstar, at .323/.432/.806 with 8 runs, 11 RBI and 5 homers in 9 games, though Draci Brno failed to repeat as champs. He led the playoffs in homers for the second straight season, tied Martin Schneider for the most total bases (25), tied for second in walks (5), tied for 3rd in runs and tied Aussies Mitch Nilsson and Corey Lyon for the most RBI.

In the 2015 European Cup, he hit .333/.481/.333. He was 9th in the Rotterdam pool for 9th in OBP and tied Stefano Desimoni for 2nd in walks (6, one behind Raily Legito). His 16 assists were one shy of leader Jakub Hajtmar. After spending the winter of 2015-2016 in the Asia Winter League as part of Team Europe, he played for the Czechs in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He struggled as their main man at third, going 0 for 6 with a walk (the walk coming off Sven Schüller) and two errors. He had a two-run error in a 7-6 loss to Nicaragua.
