Biographical Information

Pat Darcy is best known for giving up the famous home run to Carlton Fisk of the Boston Red Sox while pitching for the Cincinnati Reds in the 12th inning of Game 6 of the World Series on October 21, 1975. By the time he gave up the game-winning home run, it was well past midnight - something almost unprecedented for a postseason game at the time.

Darcy started his professional career in the Houston Astros organization, but was picked up by the Reds in a trade for Denis Menke before the 1974 season. He went 12-7 for the Indianapolis Indians that year, earning him a chance at the majors. In 6 games for the Reds in September, he went 1-0 with a 3.71 ERA. In 1975, he stayed in the majors the whole season and started 22 games, going 11-5 as the team's fifth starter. He was shipped back to Indianapolis in June 1976, never to return to the bigs.
