Biographical Information[edit]

Pablo Menchaca has pitched as high as AAA.

Menchaca signed with the San Diego Padres in January 2006; the scouts were Robert Rowley and Randy Smith. He split 2006 between the AZL Padres (3-1, 3.35, 9 BB in 51 IP) and the Eugene Emeralds (1 R in 3 IP). He was 8th in the Arizona League in ERA, 4th in K/BB ratio and did not allow a home run all year long. He missed most of 2007 with a right elbow strain, seeing one game for Eugene (2 R in 5 IP, a win) and four games for the Fort Wayne Wizards (1-0, 7.36 in 4 G). He was 5-4 with a 3.76 ERA for the 2008 Emeralds, tying for 7th in the Northwest League in wins. He did not appear in 2009.

Going to his native Mexico in 2010, he was 3-1 with a 2.64 ERA in 55 games for the Sultanes de Monterrey. He tied Jose Cobos and Yoel Hernandez for 9th in the Mexican League in appearances. He turned in a 4-2, 5.05 record in 57 games for the 2011 Sultanes. He was 4th in the LMB in games pitched. He made three appearances for the Mexican national team in the 2011 Pan American Games, allowing three hits, two walks and two runs (one earned) in three innings. He struck out five, putting him second on the Mexican staff despite being 9th in innings pitched. He allowed one unearned run in 1 2/3 IP in Mexico's 6-0 loss to Cuba in the Bronze Medal game.

With Monterrey in 2012, the righty was 3-4 with a save and a 4.55 ERA in 47 contests.
