Biographical information

Nick Skuse is a former minor league baseball pitcher who played from 1994 to 1998 in the California Angels, Anaheim Angels and Detroit Tigers farm systems.

He pitched for the Boise Hawks in 1994, going 4-2 with a 5.13 ERA in 18 games (eight starts). In 1995, he played for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, going 13-7 with a 4.04 ERA in 26 games (25 starts). Splitting the 1996 season between two teams, the Lake Elsinore Storm (six games, 0-3 with a 6.47 ERA) and Cedar Rapids Kernels (18 games, 5-6 with a 4.09 ERA), Skuse went a combined 5-9 with a 4.69 ERA in 24 games (22 starts). He split the 1997 season between three teams - the Storm (17 games, 2.02 ERA), the Midland Angels (30 games, 6.27 ERA) and the Vancouver Canadians (one game, 0.00 ERA), going 0-0 with a 4.30 ERA in 48 relief appearances. 1997 was the first year in which Skuse was used entirely as a reliever.

On November 20, 1997, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers for Phil Nevin and Matt Walbeck. He spent 1998 with the Jacksonville Suns, making 49 relief appearances and going 4-6 with a 4.76 ERA.

Overall, Skuse went 26-24 with a 4.49 ERA in 165 minor league appearances (55 starts).
