Biographical Information[edit]
Nestor Rojas reached AAA as a player.
Rojas signed with the San Francisco Giants in 2003 and spent his whole career with them. He debuted in 2004 with the DSL Giants, hitting .272/.336/.344. In '05, he came to the US with the AZL Giants. He batted .233/.288/.274 and made no errors, while throwing out half of the attempted base-stealers, but had 11 passed balls. He tied Kent Dixon for the Arizona League lead in passed balls. He split 2006 between the AZL Giants (13 for 54, 2B, 8 BB) and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (2 for 8). As the third-string catcher for the 2007 Augusta GreenJackets, he posted a .210/.281/.247 line. In '08, the Zulia native struggled at the plate with both Augusta (.156/.194/.197 in 36 G) and the Connecticut Defenders (6 for 46, BB). He made his Venezuelan Winter League debut, going 1 for 2 with a homer for the Aguilas del Zulia.
In 2009, Nestor played for the San Jose Giants (.293/.375/.478 in 27 G) and Fresno Grizzlies (.188/.226/.213 in 24 G). He was 3 for 18 with two walks for the 2009-2010 Aguilas. In 2010, he played for the Richmond Flying Squirrels (5 for 16) and Fresno (10 for 42, 2 2B, BB) to end his US playing career. In winter ball, he was 2 for 20 with a double and 3 walks for Zulia. He then went into coaching.
