Biographical Information

Myung-jun Yoon has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Yoon pitched for South Korea in the 2010 World University Championship. He was one of Korea's better hurlers in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, giving up 2 runs in 8 innings. In his first outing, he gave up a hit, walk and run in 2 2/3 IP while fanning 3 as the second of 5 Korean hurlers in a 5-4 loss to Venezuela, surrendering a homer to Ron Acuña in the 5th. He tossed 1 1/3 shutout innings with only a walk during a 6-4 win over Nicaragua. His best outing came against the Dominican national team, as the 3rd of 7 Korean hurlers in a 5-4, 10-inning win. He retired all 7 batters he faced, including former major leaguers Bernie Castro, Willis Otáñez, Alexis Gómez, Henry Mateo and Freddy Guzmán. He got the start in the 5th/6th place game against Australia but lasted just two innings (1 R, 3 H, 1 K). In the first, he allowed a run when James Beresford singled, Mitch Dening hit into a force, Justin Huber flew out, Stefan Welch singled and Dening scored on a delayed double steal of home. Ji-woong Yoon relieved him and Korea lost, 3-2.

The Doosan Bears took the Korea University alumnus in the first round of the 2012 draft. He struggled (5 H, 3 BB, 3 R in 1 1/3 IP) as a rookie that year. In 2013, he went 4-1 with four saves and a 4.00 ERA in 34 games. He was active in the 2013 Korean Series. In game 2, he retired 2012 Korean Series MVP Seung-yeop Lee with the bases loaded in the 10th, then also got Dong-kyun Woo as well. In Game 4, he relieved Jae-hoon Jung with two outs in the 9th, two on and two out and retired Kab-yong Jin on a grounder to save a 2-1 win. In Game 5, he took the loss in a 7-5 decision. With the game 5-5 in the 8th, he allowed singles to Jin, Byoung-gon Jung, a sacrifice and then a two-run single to Han-lee Park.
