Biographical Information

Dong-gyun Woo played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 8 years.

Woo played for the South Korean team that won Silver at the 2007 Asian Junior Championship. He was drafted by the Samsung Lions in the first round of the 2008 KBO draft, and he hit .225/.335/.362 in his first year. He then recorded a .242/.353/.338 batting line in 2009, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service. He represented Korea in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup, going 2 for 11 with 2 walks, a run and 2 RBI as a backup corner outfielder. Both of his hits were against the weak Hong Kong national team as he went 0 for 8 against Japan, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. . o mainly stayed in the minors in 2012, and he hit .188/.286/.313 in 26 games. He then improved to .225/.323/.338 in 82 games in 2013, and he was 1-for-4 in the 2013 Korean Series; the Lions beat the Doosan Bears in 7 games. In the 2013 Asia Series, he drove in the winner against the Uni-President Lions in extra innings. Woo was mainly placed in the minors in the rest of his career, and he never played more than 40 games for the big club in a season again. He was released after the 2017 season, and he played for the Kagawa Olive Guyners of the Shikoku Island League plus in 2018. He hit .263/.317/.316 for the Geelong-Korea team in in the 2018-2019 ABL, then his professional career ended.

Overall, Woo hit .220/.323/.319 with 135 hits and 9 homers in 8 seasons in the KBO.
