Biographical Information[edit]

Moon-hui Heo played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 10 years.

Heo played for South Korea in the 1993 Asian Championship, winning All-Star honors at DH. The Haitai Tigers selected him in the first round of the 1994 KBO draft, and he was traded with Dae-hwa Han, Bong-jae Kim and Dong-soo Shin to the LG Twins for Byeong-hun Lee and Sang-hun Kim. Heo hit .304/.333/.357 in 51 games in his first season, then he went 2-for-20 in 1995. He then recorded a .272/.330/.457 batting line in 1996, and he crushed 7 homers with a .272/.326/.342 batting line in 1997. Heo slumped to .246/.288/.326 in 1998, and he soon bounced back with a .311/.370/.447 batting line with 6 homers in 1999. He was 2-for-10 in 2000 and he mainly stayed in the minors.

The Twins traded him to the Lotte Giants for Kyu-sik Han in the middle of the 2001 season, and Heo hit .267/.293/.356 in 2001. He recorded a .263/.332/.402 batting line in 2002, and the Giants traded him back to the Twins for Yon-soo Park. However, Heo only went 2-for-22 combined in 2003, then he announced his retirement. He coached Sekwang High School in 2004, and he was the coach of Chunchon High School from 2005 to 2006. Heo became the minor league batting coach for the Twins from 2007 to 2011, and he was the batting coach of the Nexen Heroes from 2013 to 2014. He was also the bench coach for the Heroes from 2018 to 2019 and for the Giants from 2020 to 2021.

Overall, Heo hit .269/.327/.368 with 274 hits and 20 homers in 10 seasons in the KBO.
