Biographical Information

Milko Jaramillo spent 11 years in minor league baseball as a player, parts of two at AAA.

Jaramillo broke in with the 1997 DSL Dodgers, hitting .327. Coming stateside in 1998 with the Great Falls Dodgers, he batted .277/.313/.373 and fielded .927 at short, still good enough to lead Pioneer League shortstops. In '99, he hit .203/.254/.231 with 15 steals in 20 tries for the Vero Beach Dodgers. Milko's line in 2000 was .224/.323/.252 between three teams at the Rookie and A levels. He stole 21 bases in 26 tries overall.

In 2001, the 21-year-old produced at a .183/.209/.242 rate as a backup with Vero Beach and was 2 for 8 with a walk and a triple with the GCL Dodgers. Jaramillo moved to the St. Louis Cardinals chain in the minor league phase of the 2001 Rule V Draft; he hit .241/.301/.307 for the 2002 Potomac Cannons. He remained in a regular role in 2003 with the Peoria Chiefs (.228/.287/.304) and Palm Beach Cardinals (.190/.258/.240).

The Caracas native did well in 2004 with the Chiefs (.274/.357/.355 in 22 G) and Palm Beach (.283/.321/.358 in 15 G) and made it to 69 games at AA with the Tennessee Smokies (.223/.298/.321). 2005 was spent with the Springfield Cardinals (.234/.272/.326 in 59 G) and the Memphis Redbirds (.395/.452/.421 in a surprising 20-game AAA stint).

The shortstop ended his Organized Baseball run with the Milwaukee Brewers chain in 2006; the 10-year-veteran hit .194/.250/.250 between three stops, including a 3-for-17 with the AAA Nashville Sounds. He spent 2007 in the independent leagues, hitting .244/.282/.349 and fielding .950 at short for the Camden Riversharks.

Moving on to Spain, he signed with CB Sant Boi for 2008 and hit .376/.424/.464 with 24 runs and 25 RBI in 30 games. He was 4th in the Division Honor in average, third in hits (47), tied for 4th in RBI (with Dewis Navarro) and 4th in total bases (58). Remaining with Sant Boi in '09, he fell to .264/.353/.382 with 29 runs in 35 games. He tied for 9th in runs but was not among the leaders in any other major category (he led the league in flyouts among minor categories).

In 2010, he managed the VSL Cardinals, ending his playing career. When that team did not return in 2011, Jaramillo became a coach for the VSL Reds.
