Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Mike O'Neill has played in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system since 2010 (through 2014). Despite being a high-average, high-OBP player, his ascension through the organizational ranks has been rather slow.

O'Neill was drafted by the Cardinals in the 31st round of the 2010 amateur draft and began his pro career that year. In his first season, he hit .283/.393/.380 with 23 runs and 26 hits in 40 games for the Batavia Muckdogs. With Batavia (.290/.432/.419) and the Quad Cities River Bandits (.338/.430/.438) in 2011, O'Neill hit .312/.431/.428 with 33 runs, 17 doubles and 35 walks in 50 games. In 2012, he hit .359/.458/.440 with 15 stolen bases, 78 walks and only 26 strikeouts in 121 games between the Palm Beach Cardinals (108 G, .342/.442/.417) and Springfield Cardinals (13 G, .563/.643/.719). He was a Florida State League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star, as well as a MiLB.com Organization All-Star, that year. In 2013, he hit .314/.424/.369 with 82 runs, 19 stolen bases and 91 walks between Springfield (98 G, .320/.431/.384) and the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds (32 G, .295/.402/.321). He was named a Texas League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star that year. He began 2014 in Double-A, with Springfield.
