Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Elkerson played a season in the minors. He hit .360 as a high school senior and .303 as a junior college sophomore. Transferring to Abilene Christian University, he batted .333 in 2007. As a senior, he hit .424 with 21 homers and 86 RBI. He set Lone Star Conference records in hits (111) and total bases (202) and was one homer shy of NCAA Division II leader Chad Jacobsen. He was named the Conference Player of the Year and made the All-American Division II outfield alongside David Thomas, Gabe MacDougall and Chris Weimer.

Elkerson was undrafted and signed with the Atlanta Braves. He hit .228/.301/.347 with 18 runs, 11 RBI and one homer in 29 games for the Danville Braves, playing error-free ball in the outfield but striking out in 35 of 101 at-bats.
