Biographical Information[edit]

Chad Jacobsen played three seasons in the minors.

Jacobsen had a big year in college in 2008, setting nine school single-season records. He set a Peach Belt Conference record with 108 hits and led NCAA Division II with 22 home runs. He hit .439/.545/.809 with 21 doubles, 81 runs and 80 RBI. He was named the Division II All-American 1B and Daktronics picked him as the Division II Player of the Year; the American Baseball Coaches Association chose Keith Hernandez instead. The Colorado Rockies took him in the 18th round of the 2008 amateur draft; while it was a relatively late round, he immediately followed three future major leaguers in Collin McHugh, Nick Vincent and Tyler Cloyd. The scout was Jay Matthews.

With the 2008 Casper Ghosts, he hit .243/.342/.350 in 40 games. With the same club in 2009, he batted .262/.347/.399. He backed up Mark Tracy with the 2010 Tri-City Dust Devils but struggled (.149/.206/.240 in 33 games) to end his career. Overall, he had hit .224/.307/.338 with 42 runs, 53 RBI and 8 home runs in 121 minor league games; he struck out 122 in 429 at-bats.
