Biographical Information[edit]
Keith Hernandez played two seasons in the minors, reaching AAA briefly.
Hernandez hit .462 with 18 homers and 80 RBI in 50 games in college in 2008. He was named the ABCA Player of the Year for NCAA Division II. Undrafted, he signed with the Detroit Tigers. The scout was Chris Wimmer.
Hernandez hit .178/.315/.211 for the 2008 GCL Tigers, with no homers in 32 games. He bounced between four Tigers farm clubs in 2009 as an organizational backup backstop, going 1 for 5 with a double for the GCL Tigers, 2 for 14 with a double for the West Michigan Whitecaps, 3 for 15 with two doubles for the Toledo Mud Hens and hitting .255/.297/.382 for the Oneonta Tigers. He was released in spring 2010 with a career minor league line of .212/.289/.301.
