Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Chris Wimmer competed for the United States at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. In the 1991 Pan-American Games, Wimmer hit .385/~.484/.577 in the round-robin phase with 8 steals, the most of any player. He was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the eighth round of the 1992 amateur draft. In 1996, he was traded (along with Royce Clayton) to the St. Louis Cardinals, but Wimmer never reached the major leagues.
Wimmer later became a Detroit Tigers scout. He signed Robbie Weinhardt, Andy Oliver, Andy Dirks, Dominic Ficociello, Brian Flynn, Drew Smyly, James McCann, Thad Weber, Jamie Johnson and Keith Hernandez.
