Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Miguel Perez was signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Jorge Oquendo in 2000. He played for Cagua (VSL) in 2001 and 2002, before coming stateside with the GCL Reds in 2002. Perez made a brief two game appearance with the major league Reds in 2005 but went hitless in three plate appearances. In his final season as a player, Perez assumed the dual position of player/coach with the Altoona Curve in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system.

Perez became a full-time coach in 2014 with the West Virginia Power. He coached Altoona in 2015 and the Indianapolis Indians in 2016. Perez began the 2017 season coaching Indianapolis before moving to the Bristol Pirates in June to manage the short-season team. He returned to Bristol as manager in 2018 before managing the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2019. Perez was scheduled to manage the Bradenton Marauders in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Perez managed Altoona in 2021 and Indianapolis in 2022-2023. With the Indians in 2023, he coached 12 players to their major league debuts, which ties Indy’s most since becoming the Pirates’ AAA affiliate in 2005. Perez returned to the Indianapolis for a third year in 2024.
