Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Michael Earley played in the minor leagues from 2010 to 2015. He briefly reached Triple-A in 2013, but never ascended to the majors.
He was originally taken by the Chicago White Sox in the 29th round of the 2010 amateur draft and was signed by scout Mike Shirley. He stole 13 bases his first season, then hit .307/.363/.439 with 70 hits in 63 games for the Great Falls Voyagers in 2011. With the Winston-Salem Dash in 2012, he hit .291/.352/.467 with 13 home runs and 73 RBI in 124 games; he was a Carolina League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star that year. In his first and only taste at Triple-A in 2013, he hit .221/.269/.256 in 27 games for the Charlotte Knights; he spent most of the year at Double-A. After another down year in 2014 (but one in which he was a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star), he moved to the independent circuit, where he hit .325/.374/.491 with 10 home runs, 61 RBI and a league-leading 125 hits (tied with Curran Redal) in 96 games for the Southern Illinois Miners in 2015 to wrap up his career. He was a Frontier League All-Star.
Overall, Earley batted .284/.341/.420 with 38 home runs, 281 RBI and 38 steals in 531 games over six seasons.
He was later an associate scout for the New York Mets. He was a coach at Arizona State University from from 2017 to 2021 and at Texas A&M from 2022 to 2024. He initially followed Jim Schlossnagle to the University of Texas, but ended up replacing Schlossnagle as head coach at Texas A&M for 2025.
