Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Arroyo has played in the minors and been on the Colombian national team. His brother Carlos Arroyo and father Carlos Arroyo both played professional baseball.

Arroyo was signed by Seattle Mariners scout David Brito [1] with a $1.3 million signing bonus in January 2022, and he hit .314/.457/.484 with 4 homers for the DSL Mariners in 2022. He was 10th in the Dominican Summer League with 46 runs. His batting line fell to .234/.389/.373 for the Modesto Nuts in 2023, and he also went 7-for-11 with the ACL Mariners that season. Arroyo was 9-for-60 for the Caimanes de Barranquilla in the winter. Baseball America ranked him as the Mariners' 9th-best prospect. [2] He improved to .279/.404/.500 with 11 homers for the Nuts in 2024, and he also crushed 12 homers with 10 steals and a .291/.397/.519 batting line for the Everett AquaSox. He was named the Northwest League All-Star second baseman. [3] The teenager led Seattle's minor leaguers in runs (101, 8 more than Samad Taylor), tied for 7th in doubles (26), trailed only Jason Vosler in homers, was 4th in RBI (between Luis Suisbel and Caleb Cali) and tied Cali and Charlie Pagliarini for 3rd with 73 walks. Various places listed him as one of baseball's top 100 prospects. He hit .306/.509/.486 in 26 games for the Caimanes in the winter.

The Cartagena native made Colombia's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. [4] He was 1-for-4 against Brazil, with a leadoff single off Bo Takahashi and he went 1-for-2 with 2 walks versus China, with a 2-run double off Haizheng Wu. He was 1-for-4 versus Germany, and Colombia won all three games and advanced to the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
