Biographical Information[edit]
Marty Slimak was a successful NCAA Division III coach for many years.
Slimak played baseball and football at College of the Canyons, then went to UTEP on a football scholarship. After an injury ended his football career, he played baseball at UC Santa Barbara.
Slimak was an assistant coach at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School in 1989 and an assistant at California Lutheran University in 1990-1993. He became head coach at Cal Lutheran in 1994 and was 825-403-10 in 30 seasons, setting the school record for wins. He took the team to the 1996 Division III College World Series (where they finished second), 1998 Division III College World Series, 1999 Division III College World Series and 2017 Division III College World Series. He coached Jason Hirsh at California Lutheran.
