Biographical Information[edit]
Martín Mondino is one of several Argentinians who has appeared in Italy's Serie A1. He helped the Argentinian national team win Gold at the 2004 South American Championship, their first outright title in a South American Championship (a La Nacion article on the event incorrectly lists him as Martin Mondito). In 2005, he hit .216/.292/.234 for Alpina Trieste and fielded .941 at second base. He helped Argentina win Bronze at the 2010 South American Games and hit .222 for them for the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament.
He was on the Argentinian team that won the 2011 South American Championship and 2012 South American Championship. He was MVP of the 2013 South American Championship as Argentina won a third title in a row. In the Gold Medal game, with two outs in the 9th and a 1-0 deficit against Brazil, he singled off Romulo Shindo to score Exequiel Talevi with the tying run. He was with Argentina for the 2015 South American Championship as well. Mondino was a late addition to Unipol Bologna for the 2015 European Cup, going 4 for 9 with two doubles, a walk, four runs and seven RBI as Bologna won the pool. He tied for 4th in the event in RBI. He was not back with them for the finals, which they lost.
In the 2016 European Champions Cup, he again was a reinforcement player for Bologna after not playing for them in the Italian Baseball League season. He was 0 for 6. He was with Argentina when they won the Silver in the 2016 South American Championship, hitting .167/.231/.167 with two runs and three RBI. Both of his hits and all the RBI came against last-place Bolivia.
