Biographical Information[edit]

Exequiel Talevi has played for the Argentinian national team.

Debuting for Argentina at age 18, he was the youngest player on their squad at the 2013 South American Championship. He came up big in the finale, pinch-running for Lucas Nakandakare with two outs in the 9th and a 1-0 deficit against rival Brazil. He stole second then raced home on a single by Martín Mondino to tie it. Argentina won in extra innings for their third straight title.

He led the Argentinian league in 2017 in average (.458), OBP (.573), doubles (11) and OPS (1302) while his .729 slugging was 2nd (.030 behind Eduardo Zurbriggen). In the 2018 South American Championship, he backed up Jacinto Cipriota at 2B and Mauricio Costa at 3B. He was 0 for 4, got hit by a pitch and scored one run. Argentina won to clinch a spot in the 2019 Pan American Games.

In the 2019 Pan American Games, he did very well as the backup to Cipriota at second. Replacing Cipriota in a 10-0 loss to Cuba, he singled off Freddy Asiel Álvarez in his lone at-bat and handled three chances error-free. In the 7th/8th place game, he started and struck out against Peru's Jonathan Farías in the 1st but doubled off Jesús Vargas in the 2nd. He hit into a force against Alex Takano in the 3rd. In the 4th inning of the 20-1 rout, he singled off Kevin Yamamoto to bring in Eduardo Zurbriggen, then came around to score. The game ended after 4 1/2 due to the mercy rule, leaving him with a .600 average for the Games, higher than any of the qualifiers (teammate Sebastián García led at .533).
