Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Marshall Schuler has played in the minors.
Schuler played baseball, football and basketball in high school. As a college freshman at the Colorado School of Mines, he was 3-4 with 2 saves and a 6.82 ERA. He fell to 4-2, 9.27 in 2008 but tied for first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with 7 saves. In 2009, his ERA went up higher, as he was 3-6 with 3 saves and a 10.49 ERA. He had a 1-4, 10.01 record with 49 strikeouts but 88 hits and 27 walks in 47 2/3 IP as a senior, saving two games.
Despite his woeful college ERAs, he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 37th round of the 2010 amateur draft. The scout was Brad Holland. He spent that summer playing in their chain, going 4-3 with a 3.09 ERA and 3 saves in 20 games between two clubs (19 games for the GCL Phillies and one for the Clearwater Threshers). Playing for the Normal CornBelters of the Frontier League in 2011, he was 1-2 with a 1.74 ERA and 12 saves (tied for 7th in the league) while topping out at 94 mph and was named the top independent league prospect by Baseball America.
