Biographical Information[edit]

Mario Sanchez has pitched in the minor league, KBO and the CPBL.

Sanchez was signed by the Washington Nationals in 2012, and he had a 5.79 ERA in 8 games for the DSL Nationals. He improved to a 2.33 ERA in 18 games in 2013, then he was 6-1 with a 4.11 ERA with the Auburn Doubledays in 2014. Sanchez was 7-5 with a 4.86 ERA in 2015 for the Hagerstown Suns, then he went 5-0 with a 3.46 ERA with the Potomac Nationals in 2016. The Nationals then traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies on December 13 as the player to be named for Jimmy Cordero, and he was 4-2 with a 2.88 ERA for the Reading Fightin Phils in 2017. Unfortunately, he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2018, and he missed most of the 2018 season and the Phillies released him. He then pitched 8 games for the Bravos de Margarita, and his ERA was 3.86.

The Nationals signed him back with a minor league contract, and Sanchez was 10-5 with a 2.85 ERA with the Harrisburg Senators in 2019 as a starter. He was 6th in wins in the Eastern League, tied with David Parkinson). Sanchez also pitched 4 games for the AAA Fresno Grizzlies, but he allowed 21 runs in 13 2/3 innings. After the coronavirus shut down the minor leagues in 2020, Sanchez went 4-8 with a 3.98 ERA in 2021. The Minnesota Twins then signed him, and he was 6-4 with a 4.24 ERA for the AAA St. Paul Saints. He also had a 2.38 ERA in 11 games with the Aguilas del Zulia.

Sanchez then signed with the Uni-President Lions, and he dominated the CPBL. He was 8-1 with a 1.44 ERA in 2023, and he won the Player of the Month in June.[1] He then opted out and signed with the KIA Tigers of the KBO with a $280,000 contract, but he was 4-4 with a 5.94 ERA there. The Lions signed him back in 2024.
